We are truly delighted to welcome you to this special corner of Cape Breton.

For our family, Cape Breton has never been just a vacation destination—it has always felt like home. Elizabeth's family roots run deep on the island, and she spent her childhood summers at her family's cottage along the beautiful Margaree River. When we began dating in 1997, Cape Breton quickly became one of our favourite places to spend time together, and over the years it has become woven into our family's story.

Building Brookside was a dream many years in the making. We wanted to create a place where family and friends could gather, slow down, reconnect, and experience everything we love about this remarkable island.

Whether your plans include exploring the Cabot Trail, hiking through the Highlands, relaxing on nearby beaches, discovering local music, enjoying wonderful food, or simply sitting on the deck with a morning coffee, we hope Brookside becomes a place where lasting memories are made. Throughout this guide we've shared information about the home, along with many of our favourite places and experiences across Cape Breton.
